Dubai is a place full of different kinds of cuisines, but ironically, Emirati food isn’t something that most residents are familiar with. There are few restaurants opening up that are trying to change that by introducing local food in a fun and modern atmosphere; Logma is one of them.

We checked this place out on a Friday morning and it was packed! While the rest of Boxpark was nothing but a sleepy town, Logma had it going on. Luckily there were a couple of tables still available so we didn’t have to wait. The staff greeted us with salaams as we walked through the door, and accommodated us quickly. They were great throughout our time there, and even played with Khalifa when he started to get fussy.

As we flipped through the menu, I recognized some very local-specific dishes like balaleet and lugaimat, but the selection as a whole seemed very mismatched. I was expecting mandi and madhbi, but it was definitely not a downright traditional menu, and more of a local fusion-style. It’s very much a modern take on Emirati food, mixing the traditional and with things quinoa and kale.

We opted for the Traditional Breakfast Platter and Freekeh Salad. The breakfast platter was a lot smaller than what I thought it would be, but still very filling. The salad, on the other hand, was huge and also super filling. I wouldn’t say either of these dishes are the tastiest things in the world, but if your looking to try out Emirati food and don’t have local friends to invite you over to experience it, Logma is definitely the spot.

We also ordered two drinks, Passion of Arabia (passionfruit and pineapple) and Atlantis (lychee, passion fruit and lime), and both are definitely drinks I would go back for. Our dessert, the Date Pudding was also delicious. It’s more of a cake than a pudding, and it comes with a sweet caramel syrup and vanilla ice cream to balance off the heaviness.

The Freekeh Salad, Breakfast Platter, Karak Tea, Date Pudding, Atlantis and Passion of Arabia came out to 242 Dhs.
