Since we absolutely loved our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah during Eid week, we came back for more! This time we enjoyed an amazing Friday brunch. Although it’s held at the Mezzerie, where daily breakfast is also served, the vibe for the Friday brunch is totally different from breakfast. The variety of cuisines is so vast, a live band plays in the background, and there’s even a kids play area with loads of fun activities for your little ones. It’s such a great family-friendly set up, but also perfect for couples and groups of friends because the staff so thoughtfully seat families with small children in a seperate area.
As we entered the restaurant, the staff actually remembered us from our stay which was two weeks before the brunch! I swear, it’s not because we were demanding or being mean or anything, haha. They’re just super friendly at the Waldorf. We were promptly seated in the family area and asked what drinks we would like before we set out to see the buffet. We opted for fresh juices– and of course, I got my usual — watermelon. They also served us a special ravioli made by their in-house 3-Michelin star chef.
There are so many different stations for food and even a few live cooking stations. Since both the hubs and I love our seafood, we were very happy to see that they have such a huge selection of it, from chilled to grilled, to smoked to ceviche style; it was divine! I would highly recommend this brunch if you love your seafood as much as we do.
There were so many salads, literally a dozen different kinds, if not more. This brunch is good for you even if you are on a diet since there are so many healthy options! I tried a couple of salads, but I’m definitely no health freak, so I thoroughly enjoyed all of the delectable meats and breads. One item that stands out is the slow braised lamb, a definite must-try when you go. It’s melt-in-your-mouth good!
Luckily, our little Khalifa was asleep during most of the meal, which really only happens once in a blue moon. He woke up once we were ready to go for desserts but before indulging ourselves, we took him to the kids play area where he was right on time for the magic show. There he is, patiently waiting for the magician to do his tricks:
He was a little too small for all of the fun that they had going on in the kids area, but he enjoyed what he could. They had face painting, a clown, arts and crafts and even a balloon artist. If your children are old enough to be without you, its a great place to keep them entertained.
Now for desserts, there was a wonderfully scrumptious array. I didn’t know where to begin! My husband opted for the healthier things– fruits, while I had the exact opposite. There were so many kinds of cakes, chocolates, tarts, mousses, cheesecakes, and even marshmallows and cupcakes! Here’s a few of the ones I tasted.
We love the Waldorf, and I would happily recommend this brunch to people who want to get a true experience of what brunch in Dubai is like, whether or not you have children. But for those of you who do have kids, this is such a great brunch because it’ll keep your kids happy and busy, while you get to listen to live music and have plenty of delicious food.
The Friday Brunch starts from 1pm and costs 345 Dhs without alcohol. For house beverages, it’s 465 Dhs, and for sparkling its 600 Dhs. Children between the ages of 6-12 get 50% off and children under 6 years are free. Again, see how family friendly it is!
