Four Points Sheraton, Bur Dubai [Hotel Review]

We spent all of last weekend at Four Points Sheraton in Bur Dubai. The hotel is located right in the center of Bur Dubai, very close to Burjuman Mall. Bur Dubai is such a busy hub, and you have access to anything you want within a 5-minute walking radius. Because its such a busy area, we thought we would experience traffic as we were heading to the hotel, but we got there very quickly.

The hotel decor was all decked out and ready for Christmas. Along with a large Christmas tree near the entrance, there are little festive touches across the whole lobby area.

Our little Khalifa loved all of the christmas-themed things and almost got on Santa’s naughty list by trying to steal the presents under the tree!

As we were checking in, our luggage and bags were sent up to the room. Soon we received our room key and headed upstairs. We stayed in the Grand Room.

In the main area of the room, there is a large king-size bed, a spacious couch, small coffee table, a long work desk and chair and a corner for a mini fridge as well as a coffee and tea station.

The closet is very well-lit and has ample space in its hanging area as well as drawers.

The bathroom has the necessities; a sink, large mirror, spacious bath tub, and a toilet. There’s also some storage space under the sink so have plenty of space to keep all of your body products and makeup.

On the coffee table in our room, they so kindly placed a little welcome treat of chocolates and pralines! How sweet is that?!

After putting our things away, we connected to the hotel room WiFi, and was surprised that it was very fast. We never had any issues with the WiFi at all, and appreciated the fact that Four Points, although being a 4-star hotel, still provided its guests with free and fast internet. To be honest, we just stayed at a 5-star resort on Palm Jumeirah recently, that didn’t do the same, so we very impressed and appreciative of this.

Once we were done connecting all of our devices to the WiFi, we relaxed for a bit before heading downstairs to have dinner at a their restaurant, Picante.

Picante’s cuisine is quite interesting, as they not only have common favorites like grills and steaks, but also serve unique Portuguese dishes.

After Picante, my husband, Mohamed, headed out while Khalifa and I went back upstairs to relax. Mohamed had a few errands to run at Dubai Mall, and he left Four Points at nearly 9pm. He said he was expecting so much traffic because it was a Thursday evening and Bur Dubai usually gets congested around that time, but it turned out there was absolutely no traffic at all. It took him only 10 minutes to get from the hotel to Dubai Mall! In fact, the whole time during our 3-day stay, we really didn’t encounter any traffic at all when we were coming to, or leaving the hotel.

That night, we all slept like babies! The large bed was so comfortable and could easily fit my husband, myself and our 1-year old.

Day 2

The next morning, we woke up early and lucky for us breakfast also starts pretty early at Four Points Sheraton. We headed downstairs and it was empty, so service was very quick.

There’s a spread of different kinds of Western, Arabic and Indian breakfast items. There is also an omelette station and they made eggs for us, just the way we like it.

After breakfast, we went back up to rest and around noon, left the hotel to explore the area. There’s so much to do around the hotel, and so many different shopping areas. Along with Burjuman Mall, the streets are lined with shops. It’s definitely an area that you can explore without being bored, regardless of whether you are a tourist or you’ve lived in Dubai for years. Bur Dubai also has a lot more history than the newer areas of Dubai, so along with shopping, you can take in a lot of culture. Nearby, there’s even a museum and Heritage Village, which has old souks and traditional restaurants.

When we came back after venturing around, we headed up to our room to put Khalifa to sleep. The staff had come in to clean the room, so our bed was freshly made. Ahhh this is what you call bliss, after a long day of walking around…

While Khalifa and Mohamed took a nap, I snuck downstairs to check out the small salon thats located on the mezzanine floor. I didn’t make an appointment, but was quickly allotted space for a pedicure. After the pedi, I went up to find my boys up and awake. Well, at least I got somewhat of a break!

That evening we had dinner in one of the restaurants in the area, came back up and spent the rest of the evening relaxing; watching TV and browsing the net.

Day 3

Our day began with a late breakfast this time, and the breakfast buffet at their Promenade restaurant was a lot more packed than it was last time, but still had plenty of seating so we didn’t have to wait to sit down.

The spread was similar to the day before, with a few variations on some dishes.

I ordered a cafe latte once again, and they specially delivered it to me from La Terrace, the cafe across the hall, which was really nice of them.

After breakfast, we went back up and packed up to head out. Check out was quite smooth– after paying for snacks from the mini bar (Khalifa really wanted the KitKats, haha), our things were loaded into the car and we were headed out.

We thought Four Points Sheraton in Bur Dubai is a great place for both tourists and Dubai residents. The area that it’s located in has so many different things for you to do, and even if you stayed here for a week, you would still be discovering new things around Bur Dubai. I admit I haven’t come to this side of town for a while, so I was really excited to be here for the weekend.

We definitely got plenty of shopping done! If your a tourist, then staying here for at least a couple of days is a must, because its so close to all of the tourist-y shopping areas as well as old cultural landmarks.

The price for one night in the room we stayed in (Grand Room) is around 700 Dhs (December 2015).
