On the last day of our marvelous stay at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, my husband Mohamed tried out their Remède Spa. After breakfast, he headed to the spa to experience one of their highly recommended treatments, the Remède Customized Massage, and went on to say that it was one of the best personally-tailored massages that he’s ever had. Here is what he has to say about his experience: 

Remède Spa, located on the third floor of The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, is a haven for the mind and soul. From the moment that I walked in, until I left, I felt like I was in a completely relaxed environment.

I went to the spa’s reception desk and gave them my name. They confirmed my appointment and then asked me to take a seat so that I could fill out a quick form that questioned any medical concerns that I might have. During this time, they also brought me a beautifully presented platter, which had a welcome drink, a warm towel and dried berries.

After filling out the form, my masseuse took me to the changing room. Even the hallway leading to it is a sight to be admired. Every single element of this spa is beautifully decorated.

I changed into a big, comfortable robe and brand new spa slippers, and headed to my treatment room. The treatment room is large; in the center of the room is the massage bed, and on one end of the room is a broad chair with a small coffee table. Across from the massage bed is a sink with extra towels, luxury soaps and lotions. Even the ceiling of the massage room is elegantly decorated, which shows that they really put thought into the details.

Since the massage is tailor-made to exactly what you want it to be, I had many options on the kind of massage that I wanted. I chose to have a tension-relief treatment, with focuses on my lower back and neck.

My masseuse recommended that I opt for lavender oil, and I went with her suggestion. She soon started the treatment and used two main techniques throughout the massage. It was a combination of “rolling” out knots and stress spots, followed by stretching. I could almost feel the tension leaving my body as she used the perfect pressure to alleviate all of the pain in my lower back– and I have plenty of that from long drives!

After the massage was over, I put my robe back on, and chose to use the sauna and then the steam room. Both were also beautifully decorated and it was the perfect way to finish off the treatment.

I was then taken to the relaxation room. There was a long sofa ready for me to relax in, and I even had a choice of several different kinds of teas to enjoy while I was there. I opted to go for the Aching Muscles Tea. Soon I was ready to go back into the real world, so I went to the changing room to get dressed, and head out.

The fact that the Remède Customized Massage gives you the freedom to focus on whatever you need in a massage makes it a perfect choice for anyone and everyone. I would highly recommend both the spa and the massage!
