First Impressions:
We’ve stayed at the Kempinski Hotel in Mall of the Emirates before, so we’re familiar with the style and the service. I thought our stays before were great but I had no idea what was to come! If you don’t already know, Kempinski Hotel is located in one of the best and biggest malls in the country, Mall of the Emirates. Its right next to the world famous Ski Dubai and the location is perfect for anyone, but especially for tourists, because you truly get to experience Dubai in every luxurious and adventurous way.
Check-in and everything went smoothly, as we’re accustomed to that at Kempinski. We were taken upstairs to the 2nd floor, which is the floor that houses all of the Aspen Chalets. Its an exclusive floor and it has its own special security door and entrance. Its also the only floor with a special butler service– its truly beautiful and feels exclusive as well!
Our Chalet:
We stayed in the 3-bedroom Aspen Ski Chalet. If I could describe it in one word, I would use ‘breathtaking’; but since I’m writing a full review here, I’ll go into a bit more detail. It opens up a hallway that leads to the main living and dining area. The space is LARGE, but it also has a very cozy, comfy, warm feel to it. There are a lot of wooden elements, beautiful browns and beige, leather and fur, a (faux) fireplace to set the mood, and so many lovely decor pieces. This floor (yes, this is just one of the floors in the chalet) also has a small kitchenette and a bathroom.
On the dining table, they laid out fresh berries, chocolate bark and homemade marshmallows! They also provided us with flavored chocolate milk cups for the kids. Later in the evening, they came by with bags of candies and treats for kids, which definitely made my little ones very happy!
Oh, and it has an insane view of Ski Dubai– something truly unique and exclusive!
The second floor has 2 bedrooms, both facing snowy Ski Dubai as well. One bedroom has two single beds, while the other bedroom has a king-sized bed. Both rooms are gorgeous, cozy and have en suite bathrooms and large lovely bathtubs!
The third floor (yes, 3 floors to this baby here), has the master bedroom, and man this is the definition of a master bedroom! It takes up the entire floor and allows for loads of privacy. The bed is huge and comfy, it has its own fireplace area, and the bathroom is just WOW! The bedroom doesn’t face Ski Dubai (like all of the other rooms), it looks over the sunny pool and we even had a view of Burj Al Arab.
The bathroom has a beautiful silver tub and everything is designed in the most luxurious way. Speaking of luxury, all of the products are from Hermes– the soaps, the shampoos, the lotions, etc. They also give Hermes perfumes (one for him and one for her) in the master bathroom. I love Hermes so that was a huge plus for me! Along with that, they provide SebaMed products for kids.
Dining:
The Aspen Chalet guests have special access to an Executive Lounge on the 11th floor. Anyone staying in the Aspen Chalets can go there at any time of the day to enjoy fresh fruits, coffee and refreshments. Afternoon Tea is also complementary here and breakfast is even served here (albeit the selection is smaller than the large breakfast buffet downstairs).
The breakfast downstairs in their main restaurant, Olea, is a fantastic spread of delicious food. Its actually an Arabic restaurant, so they have a lot of Arabic dishes, but there are also some Asian, Indian and Western breakfast items as well. They also have loads of healthy options, and fresh juices!
We went to Olea for lunch as well and had a few traditional Arabic items from their menu. They have a way of bringing out the beauty of traditional Arabic dishes, and I’m convinced its because they use such good quality ingredients.
During our stay at the hotel, we also went to Salero, which is their Spanish tapas restaurant. We’ve been here before and love the simple, straightforward menu and the delicious tapas dishes.
Activities:
With a location like Kempinski at Mall of the Emirates, you’re literally never going to get bored. You have world-class shopping, the best restaurants and the iconic Ski Dubai literally just steps away from your Chalet. Like I said, its the perfect location for tourists because you have everything. Its also in the middle of Dubai, just 10 minutes from the beach. The mall is also connected to Dubai Metro, so you can even spend a day discovering Dubai through Metro. You will literally never run out of activities if you’re staying at this hotel. There is also a nice rooftop pool at the hotel that you can just completely relax in.
Drawbacks:
None. Nada. Zilch. Its beautiful and unique in every way.
Best For:
You have the views of snowy ski slopes on one side, and sunny Dubai on the other. Its definitely a unique experience and a total bucket list item! I don’t think there is another hotel in the world that can say they have 35 degree Celsius weather on one exterior and -3 degrees on the other. If you’re a tourist, book this hotel and you definitely won’t regret it. If you’re looking for a staycation, the Aspen Chalets are truly like no other hotel room in Dubai.
