This beautiful Italian restaurant is spread out over 3 floors (yes, floors) at the luxurious Nassima Royal Hotel. We came here for dinner last week and it was such a lovely experience!
The dining space was massive, and really great for parties. There’s a long center table that could easily fit about 30 people. There are also plenty of other smaller tables in another area, as well as a private dining space. The night of our dinner, however, was quiet and calm. We actually like it that way, because our little Khalifa was able to sleep quietly in his stroller.
We were seated next to the window where we had a great view of a glittering Sheikh Zayed Road at night. The view was breathtaking!
If I ever have any visitors to Dubai that love Italian food, I will definitely be bringing them here so they can experience great Italian food as well as take in the view.
Once were seated, the staff quickly brought out the menu and a bread basket with some traditional Italian dips. For drinks, they have a huge selection of alcoholic beverages, but since we don’t drink alcohol, we asked them for a couple of their most popular mocktails.
They soon brought out the drinks. Both were sweet and delicious! I had the Candy Apple, which is a mix of green apple, cherry syrup, rosemary, lemon and a hint of cinnamon! The flavor was such an exotic combination that I really haven’t tried anywhere else. My husband, Mohamed had the TRE Berry Smash, which was also very sweet but had a bit of tang from the lemon in it. It was made from raspberry, wild blueberry, lemon and lychee. I would really recommend both, but especially the Candy Apple!
For appetizers, we ordered the Calamaro & Gamberi as well as the Burrata. The calamari dish was a little bit different from your typical calamari because along with the squid, it also included fried shrimps, zucchini and basil leaves. The batter was a traditional one and it lightly coated each of the items in the platter. It was served with a tartar sauce.
The burrata was a served with a salad leaves, semi-dried figs, tomatoes, kand a delicious balsamic drizzle. The burrata was so creamy and delicious and the pairing of it with the sweetness of the figs was just genius!
Our main course came soon after we were done with the starters. With the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the Medaglione TRE. It’s a veal dish that comes topped with a mushroom sauce and has a ring of mashed potato and broccoli encircling it. I loved the sauce and the veal slices were the perfect portion. Not too filling, yet not too light either.
Mohamed had the Agnolloti TRE, which is a ravioli-like dish. The pasta was stuffed with minced veal and came with decadent porcini mushroom sauce and veal jus. It also had a hint of truffle in it. The portion size is also not overbearing and very enjoyable.
We were curious about the desserts and although I wasn’t too keen on getting the Tiramisu, the waiter insisted that I try it, and that it’s definitely not your typical tiramisu.
When it was brought to us, I was amazed. There are so many preparations that go into making this tiramisu, and its definitely not a traditional presentation, although the flavors are very on point. The outside is a hardened crust, but the inside is a soft creamy texture. I loved it!
My husband got the Cioccolato, which is a lot more than its name suggests. It is also equally beautifully presented. It has aerated pistachio cake, decadent chocolate ganache, chocolate truffles, fresh raspberries and blueberries, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream to balance out all of the richness. It’s such a great combination of heavy and light sweets; perfectly balanced.
We loved our experience at TRE and thought that the food was true to Italian flavors. The ingredients are simple and the combinations came together very well! I love that you can see practically all of Sheikh Zayed Road while enjoying your meal. We’ll definitely be back!
