Flavours On Two [Restaurant Review]

We love brunches. Period. You don’t have to wait on the food, don’t need to wave down waiters, and best of all, we live in a place where we can try a different brunch almost every week of the year and not get bored. Last weekend we discovered a gem of a brunch when we went down to Flavours on Two, which is located on the second floor of Towers Rotana on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The hotel is super easy to find, and luckily you don’t have to worry about parking since brunch guests are welcome to use the hotel’s valet services, free of charge.

Luckily, we had reservations made, which is really highly recommended because the dining venue is quite busy. We were taken to our table, asked for our choices in drinks, and then we got up to explore all the goodies that the brunch has to offer.

There were actually loads of different kinds of foods! I have to be honest, I wasn’t expecting it to be like that, but I was very pleased to see that there was so much of a variety. The starters ranged from traditional Arabic appetizers like hummus and moutabel, to all different kinds of salads, and even a good selection of sushi, sashimi and nigiri.

The salad bar is not your typical green leaves, cucumber and tomato mix up– there were exotic choices like Thai salads and even a creamy burrata starter.

For mains, there were dishes like Beef Wellington, whole roasted turkey, Korean marinated beef, Mongolian stir-fry that was cooked to order, and so many other scrumptious things.

I feel like we’ve been to a few brunches lately where the quality really doesn’t match up with the expectations that we had. You know how sometimes you walk into a brunch thinking that there are so many choices and everything looks so good, but when you sit down and actually taste the food, its not what you expected at all? Well, that certainly wasn’t the case with this brunch. All of the food was so delicious and flavorful and prepared very well.

All of the meats were tender and of really good cuts, and I especially loved the Korean beef dish. It’s one of those beautifully marinated, succulent meats that you just have to try! The Mongolian stir-fry station was also really nice because you can choose all of the different thing that you want, including vegetables, seafood and/or meats, and even sauces (Sriracha, oyster sauce, chilli sauce, soy sauce, etc.). Once its made to your order, its delivered straight to your table.

Before we indulged in desserts, we took our little Khalifa to play in the kids play area.

It’s located in a separate room across the hall from the dining area of the brunch. In that room, there were kid-size tables and chairs, toys and different things for them to play with. There were also a few kid-freindly food items for them to eat, including chicken nuggets and other bite-sized things. I thought the play area was good except for the fact that there wasn’t any adult supervision, or even any adults nearby since the room is in a completely different area than the brunch dining venue. I brought up this issue with the hotel staff and they said they will look into it, so hopefully for brunches in the future, there will be an adult appointed to supervise the kids play area.

After Khalifa was done playing, we enjoyed some of the desserts that were available.

Along with a table full of delectable cakes, there was also another table filled with fruits, candies, marsh mellows, soft serve ice cream, and even chocolate fountains.

We really liked the brunch and the fact that along with being kid-friendly, the food is really enjoyable, the variety is amazing and the price is also quite affordable!

The price for Friday Brunch at Flavours on Two is 185 Dhs without alcohol, and 225 Dhs with alcohol.
