There aren’t too many Greek restaurant options here in the UAE, which is a shame because Greek food is so underrated, and in my opinion, one of the best cuisines! Luckily, Dubai has an incredible Greek restaurant chain that has delicious and authentic food.
We went to Eat Greek at Mall of the Emirates last weekend, and although I’ve seen it in passing before, I never realized just how big it is. It has plenty of seating space, and beautiful earthy decor. Although the restaurant was getting more packed by the minute, we were quickly seated. The service throughout our lunch was impeccable, and we never had to waive anyone down or wait too long for anything.
Our waitress, a true Greek herself, handed us the menus and helped us choose a few of the things that were highly recommended. Before ordering anything for myself, I ordered my little Khalifa a burger from their kids menu, which they brought out in less than 10 minutes within ordering. Khalifa loved his burger, but I think he loved the waitress more– he had eyes only for her the entire time!
Our drinks soon came, and both were fruity and refreshing. I decided to get Khalifa a little treat– the Nutella Spartan, and WOW is all I could say when it came to the table. It’s not your typical chocolate-nutella milkshake; its a volcano of Nutella goodness, topped off with a donut filled with Nutella!
For starters, my husband got one of his all-time favorites, a Greek Salad. It was traditional, delicious and huge!
I got the Baked Feta, and I was expecting it to be a few cubes of feta cheese drizzled in olive oil, but I was wrong. It was a large chunk of cheese topped with peppers, tomato and onion. The fact that it was baked brought out the flavors even more! It was so filling, I could barely have even half of it– its definitely meant for two.
Our mains came, and everything looked beautiful. It was truly a Greek feast! My husband got the Lamb Kontosouvli, which is a lamb dish, served from the grill and it comes with a side of fries.
For my main dish, I chose Kleftiko Roast Lamb. Its something I’ve never had before, so I was delightfully surprised with just how delicious it was. The lamb falls off the bone, and its cooked in a broth with vegetables. Everything about it screams ‘homemade’. It’s one of the best comfort foods I’ve ever had!
Now, we also ordered another main to share between my husband and I. We got the Mussaka, which is a traditional Greek dish that we both love. The way that they make it at Eat Greek is to die for! If I was left alone with a whole pan of it, it’ll be done within a day. If there is one thing that you must try at this restaurant, its the Mussaka!
We took our sweet time eating, and were more than stuffed towards the end of our meal. We even had to take a few things away, and didn’t have an inch of space left for dessert (which gives us all the more reason to come back). Now that we know that there is such a great Greek restaurant in Dubai, we’ll definitely be coming back to Eat Greek.
In addition to the branch that we went to at Mall of the Emirates, there is also one in JBR and a new one opening up within the next few days at Dubai Mall.
