FIRST SALON VISIT AFTER LOCKDOWN – COYA SPA REVIEW

It has been 6 months since my last salon visit! That was before lockdown. Although salons and spas across the UAE have been open for months now, I didn’t visit any because we’re still not venturing out much. I really wanted to get pampered and thought it was time, so I did A LOT of searching and finally found the perfect place to go. I wanted to share my experience with you girls as I’m sure many are still in the same boat – wanting to get pampered but still iffy about whether or not to go to a salon/spa.

First Impressions

I was VERY picky when it came to choosing my first salon post COVID and I looked around quite a bit. I came across Coya Spa, a salon AND spa located in Mirdif that seemed to have the best COVID precautions as well as full array of both salon and spa services. So glad that I chose it as my first place to get pampered because they go above and beyond government mandated precautions – they have free-of-charge private rooms for hair and nails so you really minimize interaction with others! Also, its massive – you don’t have to worry about social distancing with other clients because they have so much space.

The Treatments

I was welcomed, temperature tested, given a drink and they were quick to start my treatments. I had a Margy’s Monte Carlo vitamin C and collagen facial, a gel ombre manicure, regular pedicure and a hair color, trim and blowdry booked. All of the treatments were done in private rooms – you just need to book it in advance. Its subject to availability and no extra charge!

First up was the facial. I filled out a quick form (as you usually do before a massage or facial) and was taken to the treatment room. The treatment room was incredible! There was a floor to ceiling water fountain, a large bathtub, a shower, and of course the treatment bed/table.

The lady who did my facial did an incredible job. She analysed my skin and suggested a vitamin C and collagen facial. The products by Margy’s Monte Carlo are lush! She took her time, and I could really see a difference in the glow of my skin afterwards. After the facial, the team at Coya Spa surprised me with a bouquet of flowers and a beautiful note! They knew it was my birthday the next day and really went all out to make me feel special! It was such a wonderful, thoughtful gesture.

After my facial, I went to the private hair room. I was really unsure of what to do with my hair, but the hairstylist Jasna advised me to go with a single color. My hair was so damaged from previous highlights and although I would have loved to stick to a caramel color, I could already tell that doing anymore highlights would only do more damage to already fragile hair. I decided to go with Jasna’s suggestion and we did a dark brown hair color. I’m so happy with the way it looks now – healthy! If quarantine has damaged your hair in the way that it has mine, I highly suggest you give her a visit at Coya Spa and get your hair sorted. I felt like a whole new me!

After the hair, we moved onto nails. I wanted a simple pedicure and a gel ombre manicure. Monica, who did my ombre mani did a great job and worked veryyy fast. The nail room massive and you would naturally just be distanced from other clients but if you wanted more privacy, you can request a private nail for yourself or for you and 1 friend. Again, all you need to do is request it while making your booking.

Coya Spa is such a wonderful place to get pampered and do such a great job in all of their services! To top it off, they follow all of the government covid regulations and take their even more precautions than what they’re required to do. I so appreciate when a business (whether salon, restaurant or shop) does that because it means they really care about the safety of their clients!
