Sheraton Hotel Mall of the Emirates [Hotel Review]

What could be better than staying at a hotel attached to the mall?! Mall of the Emirates is definitely my favorite mall in the UAE, and being able to stay at Sheraton Hotel Mall of the Emirates was nothing less than a treat! The hotel is beautiful, the staff were really attentive and friendly, and our suite was to die for… but before I get into all of that, I’ll give you the details of our experience from the moment we walked in.

The hotel’s ground floor, where the valet service is, is actually not the same level as the hotel’s main lobby. The lobby is on a higher level; after being assisted with our luggage, we headed upstairs to handle the check-in procedures. The decor of the lobby is beautiful– there is plenty of seating space, a small cafe and even an outdoor terrace area that connects to the hotel’s main restaurant.

The line at the counter was very quick. I simply showed them my ID and I was handed the room key within a couple of minutes. We headed upstairs to our Deluxe Suite and we were completely stunned by the sheer size of it- it’s HUGE! It’s without a doubt one of the largest 1-bedroom suites that I have come across in Dubai.

The entrance of the suite is a long hallway, and on one side of it is a fully stocked mini bar, as well as Nespresso machine, complementary coffee pods, teas and water. The hallway leads to a large living room. The living room has plenty of couch space, a large coffee table, and off to the side there is a work desk. Across from the couch, there is a ginormous TV, which I’m guessing is 72-inches!

Connected to the living room (but also easily separable by closing the sliding doors) is the bedroom. The bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed, two side tables, another large TV and some cabinet space. What I loved most about this bedroom is that you don’t have to clutter it with clothes and bags because there is a completely separate walk-in closet in a different part of the suite, but I’ll get to that later. Our bedroom had a view of the city, and we could see Jumeirah and even as far as Burj Khalifa!

From the bedroom, there is an entrance to the bathroom area. The bathroom is split into several different parts so there is plenty of privacy, even if as many as 2 or 3 people want to use it at the same time– so long as they all don’t want to do the same thing!

Next to the the large bathtub, there is a stand-alone shower. Across from that is a sink area with plenty of counter space. The staff really keep the bathrooms well-stocked with everything from shaving kits and toothbrushes to lotion and shampoos. The bathroom has its own hallway, and on one side of it is the private toilet and bidet room. Once you reach the end of that hall, it takes you to the large walk-in closet, which has plenty of space to store clothes for weeks.

Although it was just my husband, 1-year old son and I, there was so much space in this suite that I would highly recommend it to families with more than one child as well.

Our bags soon came, and we put away our things. We also connected to the complementary WiFi, which worked very well.

Once we settled and freshened up, we headed over to the mall. Sheraton is directly attached to Mall of the Emirates, so all we had to take an elevator down to the second floor of the hotel and walk through, and within just a couple of minutes we were at Mall of the Emirates’ new extension!

Since it was already late in the evening, we decided to have dinner at one of the newer restaurants in the extension, and then enjoyed a movie at the newly renovated theater.

When we got back to our room, the staff had prepared the suite for bedtime by doing a great turn down service. They even left towel elephants on the bed! How cute is that?!

Day 2

Our second day at Sheraton MOE started off with a lovely breakfast at Sanabel. Being their main restaurant, its actually very large, and so was the breakfast buffet spread! There were so many different kinds of things to choose from, and so many different kinds of cuisines as well.

I opted for a light breakfast of fruits and coffee, but my husband and baby Khalifa went all out with waffles, pancakes and even curries!

What I loved most about having breakfast here is the beautiful view of Dubai. From the restaurant’s outdoor dining area, you can see Sheikh Zayed Road, Burj Al Arab, and even Downtown Dubai. Its the perfect place to have a big cup of coffee to start off the day, and that’s exactly what I did.

After breakfast, we went upstairs to check out the pool. This pool really took me by surprise, and it is definitely the best rooftop pool in the area! While having gorgeous views of the entire city, you can tan peacefully without worrying about any other buildings blocking the view. The location of the pool is really genius, and the pool itself is a beauty.

When we were done with the pool, we went back to our room and got ready to go to Friday prayer. Literally everything that you could ever need is within a 10-minute walking radius from Sheraton Mall of the Emirates– regardless of whether its shopping, pharmacy or in our case, a mosque to go to for Friday prayer. How much more convenient could it get?!

We got back from Friday prayer and headed straight to Sheraton’s Chocoholic Brunch held at Sanabel. The restaurant was transformed into a chocolate lovers’ paradise, but also had so many other savory mains with all different kinds of cuisines.

The main attraction– the chocolate desserts– had its own room! Even the table’s centerpieces were made completely of chocolate. To see our whole experience there, check out: Chocoholic Friday Brunch at Sanabel, Sheraton MOE.

After brunch my husband went to the spa, while little Khalifa and I went back upstairs to the room so he could have his nap. My husband had a hot stone massage at Sheraton’s Shine Spa, and he came back completely relaxed. He indulged himself even more with a steam and sauna experience after the massage. Read about his experience at the spa here: Shine Spa at Sheraton Mall of the Emirates.

Once my husband got back and Khalifa woke up, we decided to burn off all the calories that we consumed by walking around the mall (which always ends up being more like ‘chasing a toddler around the mall’).

That evening, my husband had a couple of errands to run and headed out to do so. Sheraton MOE’s location is very central, as its located nearly half way in between Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Marina area, so its very easy to get to many different locations within just a few minutes drive. It’s also incredibly convenient that Dubai’s main highway, Sheikh Zayed Road, has very easy access to Mall of the Emirates and Sheraton Hotel.

Khalifa and I headed back upstairs to our suite and the staff had done a beautiful turn down service once again, and even left a bowl of fresh fruit for us to enjoy that evening.

Day 3

We woke up quite early on our last day at the hotel because I really wanted to make the most out of staying at a hotel attached to the mall– and by that, I mean I wanted to shop! But first, breakfast.

20160319_091115

I sampled several different breakfast items this time, and everything I had was delicious! They were also happy to specially-make waffles for Khalifa since he loved it so much the day before.

20160409_203100

After breakfast, I headed over to the mall and although most of the shops don’t open until 10am, a few are open before. I took advantage of the fact that the mall was nearly empty and went on a mini spree! It wasn’t until nearly check out time that I was finished, so I headed upstairs, packed up our things and went down to do check out procedures. They were so swift with checkout procedures that I didn’t have to deal with a line or anything!

Even after we checked out, we were allowed to keep our luggage at the hotel, so we could continue shopping– a very helpful service!

The price for one night in the room we stayed in (the Deluxe Suite with breakfast) is around 2,100 Dhs (March 2016).
